Guerrilla Video Art Workshop at Phoenix Brighton with Álvaro Collar - 2014

Join us at Phoenix Brighton for an exciting Guerrilla Video Art workshop with award winning video artist Álvaro Collar.

Phoenix is Brighton is proud to be hosting a Guerrilla Video Art workshop with award winning video artist Álvaro Collar. This practical two day course  is suitable for anyone interested in the process of video making, including beginners, and for those who want to learn how to develop their own video pieces from scratch, on a low or non existing budget dealing with creative and technical challenges. You will also learn about different trends in video art, their critical context and significant artists working with video, encouraging a thoughtful critical review of the most representative video art pieces. Please bring your own equipment for recording video (e.g. digital video camera, digital SRL camera, or mobile phone) and their laptop for editing with video editing software installed (advice and free software will also be available in the class (or prior to it) if needed). Early booking recommended as places are very limited.

Álvaro Collar received his BA in Media Studies from Complutense University of Madrid. A successful video artist, he is the creator of pieces such as Myriad (2011) which won the UrbanTV Best Mobile Video and the Movilfest Best Movie Award, Onirica (2008) and The Fifth Room (2005) which won the Minute Movie Cup and were selected to represent Spain at the UNICA World Minute Movie Cup 2009 and 2006 or Centrifuge (2007) which won the First MovilFilmFest Best Original Idea prize. He has been teaching on video art in British and Spanish art institutions film schools and art galleries. http://www.alvarocollar.com
