dSCAPE/07 Animation Night
Date: Wednesday 14 November
Venue: Salis Benny Theatre, Brighton
dSCAPE/07 Animation Night was a must-attend for anyone working in – and passionate about – animation in Brighton and the South East.
This year’s event brought together Irish and English animators to showcase their work and discuss the socio-political influences that have informed its inception and development. This included reflection on current economic prosperity in both the UK and more dramatically in Ireland, plus cultural issues such as religious conflict and immigration. The format included screenings and facilitated panel discussion.
The Speakers were...
Nicky Gogan, co-founder of Sink Digital Media and of Ireland’s prestigious Darklight Film Festival
Eoghan Kidney, one of the founder members of Irish animation collective, Delicious 9
Chris Shepherd of award-winning Slinky Pics
Matthew Talbot-Kelly, self-styled digital itinerant troubadour
Angus Giorgi founder of HANG, the Hastings Animators Networking Group
Sarah Bird Brighton based 2D/3D animator and co-ordinator of BANG
Thanks to all those who attended and a big thank you to the animation panel.
