WORKSHOP: Guerrilla Video Art with Alvaro Collar

Join us at Phoenix Brighton for two Saturdays on 21st and 28th September 2013 for a workshop with international award winning video artist Álvaro Collar and learn how to make your own video pieces from scratch on a low budget.

Guerrilla Video Art is practical course on video art. Suitable for anyone interested in the process of video making, including beginners, and for those who want to learn how to develop their own video pieces from scratch on a low budget.

Course content includes how to face both creative and technical issues. Students will also learn about different trends in video art, their critical context and the main artists working on video, encouraging a thoughtful critical review of the most representative video art pieces  Students should bring their own equipment for recording video (digital video camera, digital SRL camera or mobile phone) and for editing it (laptop).

Álvaro Collar received his BA in Media Studies from Complutense University of Madrid. A successful video artist, he is the creator of pieces such as Myriad (2011) which won the Movilfest Best Movie Award, Onirica (2008) and The Fifth Room (2005) which won the Minute Movie Cup and were selected to represent Spain at the UNICA World Minute Movie Cup 2009 and 2006 or Centrifuge (2007) which won the First MovilFilmFest Best Original Idea prize.
