DANCE DOUBLE BILL - 2014

A cutting-edge double-bill of work by two contrasting artists with distinctly different perspectives, both exploring the creative collisions between dance performance and digital technology.

READYSALTEDCODE: [ARRA]STRE

Dance and data collide in a performance that derives its movements from computer science theory. A perfect fusion of art and technology, this unique visualisation creates images triggered by dancers’ data, wearable technology and the choreography itself, using ballet to break down the theories and concepts that underpin information technology.

A collaboration between dance students and computer science students at Battle Abbey School.

CASSON & FRIENDS: FIEND

Nijinsky’s fabled dance solo L’après midi d’un faun (Afternoon of a Faun) is the starting point for this exploration of how we see and how we are seen in today’s digital world. A collaboration between dance artists Tim Casson and video technician Tom Butterworth, Fiend uses live video to enable the dancer to interact with multiple versions of himself as he searches for connections in his virtual world.

Google Rise Awardee Readysaltedcode have created and produced this performance with support from Google and an award from Arts Council England.
