BlockBuilders – Create Your Future Today - 2014

Tired of adults making all the decisions in your town? Now it's your turn to have a say! Ages 16 and under.

How would you like to change the world? Well first lets start with your city!

Using Minecraft this event will show you how to work as a group and come up with ideas for the future of your town. All children will get to bring their creations to life by building them in Minecraft.

It will teach your child how to work within a team of other likeminded children, how to form brilliant ideas and opinions about the future of their town and finally how to build beautiful pitches that we can show to the council.

During each session we will be getting groups of children to re-design their ideal version of London Road, an area which is currently being actively re-developed.

There will be 15 minutes for the young people to familiarise themselves with the problems of the area and plan their solutions, followed by the fun bit of building those designs within Minecraft. The last 15 minutes will be spent looking at their creations through an Oculus Rift (inside a Minecraft head) here they can see their fantastic ideas brought to life!

Following previous sessions we have 3D printed a model of the childrens creations, which will be available to view at the event. That model is for Phoenix Industrial Estate in Lewes, and is something we will be taking to the local council for them to consider as part of the estates re-development. We are hoping to do the same following these sessions!
