Just 21 days to go!
It's going to be a bumper November. There are the ever popular
dSCAPE events such as the
Portfolio clinic, plus fantasticly innovative art works - from
Sonic Body, an audio-installation creating an orchestra of the human body, to
Pyrotechnics to the People, which uses sensor-powered technology to create an interactive fireworks display!
There will be design awards and web awards, film and animation programmes plus countless opportunities to meet others in digital media industries. You can even hear some of the leading authorities on Flash animation talk on their specialist subjects at the the
Flash on the Beach conference.
Our
dSCAPE portfolio night has still got a couple of spots left for forward thinking, local digital media companies to cast an eye on the fresh talent out there, and perform a mentoring role for aspiring creatives.
Meet the new hot shots before your competitors do! Drop
Nish a mail.
We're also looking for people to participate in
Designers night, a rapid fire presentation on the theme of design.

With a slot of under 7 minutes, you can wax lyrical, entertain the crowd, impart your wisdom, sell your business or soul, or even rant about the worst design you've ever seen (Brighton station ticket machines, perhaps?). You don't need to work in the industry - design is something that impacts us all on both practical and emotional levels, whether it's your Swedish flat pack furniture, confusing street signs, stylish electronics, costly branding (Olympics logo anyone?) or the mysterious icons on your cooker or mobile phone. Contact
Jo to get involved.
We'll leave you with a few quotes about design:
"
Art has to move you and design does not, unless it's a good design for a bus."David Hockney"
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools."
Douglas Adams
"
Design in art, is a recognition of the relation between various things, various elements in the creative flux. You can't invent a design. You recognize it, in the fourth dimension. That is, with your blood and your bones, as well as with your eyes."
D. H. Lawrence
